- April 1793: the Convention established a Committee of Public Safety that wanted somewhat dictatorial power to sustain the revolution from enemies
- They had a political relationship with the sans-culottes
- June 1793: sans-culottes invaded the Convention to secure control and established a new calendar and the eradication (removal) of Christianity
- August 23: the French experienced a levee en masse
- September 29: Prices were reformed to the sans-culottes demands
- Also, much counterrevolutionary acts were stopped by French armies
